Life Line Screening administers medical screening testing in a more convenient and inexpensive manner. Instead of having to go to a hospital or a medical testing facility, Life Line Screening performs the same procedures and tests similar to any screenings done at hospitals and testing facilities, only in a less expensive and more convenient fashion.
One such test is the ultrasound screening which directs a sound wave towards the part of the body being tested. This procedure results in a live viewing of the organs actually functioning. With this test it is possible to view the flow of blood through the body.
One very common ultrasound test is to test the carotid arteries in the neck area for any blockages that may have occurred over the years. Various other spots in the body are checked for any blockages as well, such as the Ankle-Brachial area and the abdominal aortic aneurysm areas. The ultrasound also tests for bone density so that any osteoporosis can be detected.
The Finger-Stick blood panel can check for cholesterol levels, particularly the HDL and LDL along with the level of triglycerides. This test also checks for the blood levels of glucose so it can be estimated whether the person has diabetes. The High-Density C-Reactive test checks for any cardiovascular disease, and elevated liver enzymes which may indicate liver disease. The limited electrocardiograph test measures the heart rate. If the heart rate is irregular that is called atrial fibrillation, or A-Fib. If A-Fib occurs blood clots can form, increasing the risk of stroke. A person should take quick action to seek medical advice if A-Fib occurs.
All of the Life Line Screening test results are forwarded on to the individual’s doctor for further evaluation and treatment if it is deemed to be necessary. Testing is performed at convenient locations such as schools, libraries and workplaces.
